How to measure ? When to measure ? What to measure ?
Can everything be measured? Emotions cannot be measured always.
A father wants to measure his two daughters how much they loved him. The elder daughter told she loves him as much as sugar. The younger daughter told him she loves as much as salt. Fathers perspective he thought elder daughter loves him more. He gave higher rating for sugar. So he rejected the younger daughter.
But younger daughter's perspective she loves father the most because you cannot eat anything unless it contains salt.
There are two types of measurement. Objective and Subjective reality measurement.
In mythology, Narathar came to mount kailaya mountain with one mango and said those who run fast around the world 3 times he will offer the mango. Vinayaka and Muruga agreed for the race and muruga went around the world in his peacock. Ganesha thought few times and went around his parents and got the mango. Murugan asked how its possible. So ganesha replied you went around "The world", i went around "My world". what matters more?
This is the difference between objective reality and subjective reality. In this story Muruga represents objective and Ganesha represents Subjective reality.
So always when we measure, we are focused only on objective reality. We totally forgets subjective reality. Subjective reality cannot be measured examples like taste, instinct.
A king called Mahabali and he will give everything whoever asked. One day vishnu came and asked for three pieces of land. The king agreed as he asks for only 3 foot land. Soon Vishnu shows his real strength and takes viswaroopam and 2 peices of land vishnu covers heaven and earth. Then asked Mahabali where to keep my 3rd foot. Mahabali says keep it on my head. Vishnu did and crushed him to earth.
Kings perception its only 3 foot land. But Vishnu took the gigantic figure and crushed him. So always the measurement is based on each person perception.
How to we measure happiness ?
Happines is combination of something that can be measurable.
Lakshmi : Material Tangible Wealth ( Measurable )
Saraswathi : Intellectual Wealth ( Partially measurable )
Durga : Emotional Wealth ( Cannot measureable )
One day Indra wants to measure how great he was. He wants to show his power to the entire world and he asked Viswakarma to build very big palace with gold. Indra came and looked at the palace and thought its not enough. Then he asked him to build a palace with jewels which will show my true worth. Viswakarma built another palace which is bigger than previous. Now indra comes and still thought its not enough.
Viswakarma exhausted and he goes to vishnu for help. Vishnu comes to Indra as little boy and asked to see the palace. Indra showed his 2 palace built by Viswakarma.
The little boy said i have seen many Indra's and their palace better than yours and smaller than yours. Now Indra asked the little boy how many indras do you know ?
Here is the measurement scale is different from each one.
