Meaning of "manussa"

The Pali and Sanskrit languages use the word "manussa" or "manusya" when referring to humans. It is a very meaningful word. Incidentally, the English word "Man" is derived from the Sanskrit word "manu" meaning "to think".  

 
Humans are the only living beings who can cultivate and develop the mind to its maximum level. Such a living being is called manussa (human). The word "man" is also derived from the word mana meaning mind. Thus one who has a mind to think is called man.  

With his superior intelligence, man has only to direct and channel his desires and he can make his life to be what he chooses. (Of course when we refer to "man", here we are thinking of all humans, men and women. There is no need to think that women are in any way inferior to men either intellectually or spiritually or morally).  

 
The Chinese definition of human is "one with a heart disposed to kindness". In the human heart, there must be sympathy and honesty. If these two qualities are absent, then one is not regarded as a real human being.  

Western philosophers define "humans" as those who can use their sense of reasoning. Humans are the only beings who are rational in their behaviour. Other living beings use only their instinct to ensure their survival, pleasure and protection. When the mind is cultivated by abstaining from evil thoughts and developing the great virtues, one can gain this tranquillity which leads to the purity of the mind.  

What is Religion?

1. The word " religion " is an indefinite word with no fixed meaning. 

2. It is one word with many meanings. 

3. This is because religion has passed through many stages. The concept at each stage is called Religion though the concept at one stage has not had the same meaning which it had at the preceding stage or is likely to have at the succeeding stage. 

4. The conception of religion was never fixed. 

5. It has varied from time to time. 

6. Because most of the phenomena such as lightning, rain and floods, the occurrence of which the primitive man could not explain, any weird performance done to control the phenomenon was called magic. Religion therefore came to be identified with magic. 

7. Then came the second stage in the evolution of religion. In this stage religion came to be identified with beliefs, rituals, ceremonies, prayers and sacrifices. 

8. But this conception of religion is derivative.

9. The pivotal point in religion starts with the belief that there exists some power which causes these phenomena which primitive man did not know and could not understand. Magic lost its place at this stage.

10. This power was originally malevolent. But later it was felt that it could also be benevolent. 

11. Beliefs, rites, ceremonies and sacrifices were necessary both to propitiate a benevolent power and also to conciliate an angry power. 

12. Later that power was called God or the Creator. 

13. Then came the third stage that it is this God who created this world and also man. 

14. This was followed by the belief that man has a soul and the soul is eternal and is answerable to God for man's actions in the world. 

15. This is, in short, the evolution.

A bar opened in opposite a Church. The church prayed daily against the bar business. After few days, the bar was struck by lighting & caught fire. Bar owner sued the church authorities for the cause, as an action by their prayer. But The Church denied all responsibility. So the Judge commented, “It’s very difficult to decide the case because here we have a bar owner who believes in the power of prayer & an entire Church that doesn’t believe in it !!!”

ஒருத்தன் கார்ல ஏர்போர்ட் போனான். போற வழியில் வண்டி பிரச்சனை ஆகி டயர் கழண்டு விழுந்துருச்சு. உடனே கோபப்பட்டவன் என்னென்னமோ சொல்லி திட்ட ஆரம்பிச்சுட்டான். கேட்ட வார்த்தை சொல்லி “கடவுளை” திட்டுறான். அந்த வழியா வந்த ஒரு ஞானி/மத போதகர்/சாமியார் (எப்படி வேணும்னாலும் வச்சுங்குங்க) அவனை பார்த்து ஏம்பா இப்படி திட்டற, “கடவுளை பிரார்த்தனை பண்ணு, வேண்டி விரும்பி கேளு, மனசில நினைச்சு தியானம் பண்ணு” கண்டிப்பா உனக்கு உதவுவாறு” அப்படின்னு சொன்னாரு.

அத கேட்டதும் திரும்ப திட்ட ஆரம்பிச்சுட்டான். அப்புறம் ஞானியை பார்த்து “வேணும்னா நீ பிரார்த்தனை பண்ணு, வேண்டி விரும்பி கேளு, மனசில நினைச்சு தியானம் பண்ணு” னு சொன்னான்.

ஞானிக்கு இப்ப தர்மசங்கடமான நிலைமை பிரார்த்தனை பன்றதா வேண்டாமான்னு. கார்ல வந்தவன் நம்மள ஒருமாறி பார்ப்பானே, என்ன செய்யனு யோசிச்சிட்டு கடைசில பிரார்த்தனை பண்ணாரு. “கடவுளே டயர் கழண்டு விழுந்துடுச்சு, வண்டி சரிபண்ணு” னு.

என்ன அதிசயம், கார் டயர் தானா வந்து ஒட்டிகிச்சு, வண்டி சரியாகிடுச்சு.

உடனே நம்ம ஞானி சொன்னாரு “கடவுளே நிஜமாவே நீ இருக்கியா ?” 

ஒரு வியாபாரி சென்னையிலிருந்து மும்பைக்கு செல்ல வேண்டும். வியாபாரம் முடிஞ்சா சில பல கோடிகள் கிடைக்கும். அதனால் டிரைவரிடம் “காலைல ஆறு மணிக்கி கரக்டா வந்திடுன்னு, எட்டு மணிக்கு பிளைட்”னு சொல்லிட்டு தூங்க போயிட்டார்.

ஆனா டிரைவர் காலைல 6.30am க்கு லேட்டா வந்தான். அவனை மனசுக்குள்ளே திட்டி தீர்த்துவிட்டு வண்டியில் ஏறினார். ஏர்போர்ட் போற வழியில் வண்டி பஞ்சர். இவருக்குனா செம கோபம். அதோட “என்னன்னு பாரு“ னு சொன்னாரு. டிரைவர் பார்த்துட்டு “சார் போன தடவை வண்டி சர்விஸ் பார்த்தவன் ஸ்டெப்னி டயர் திரும்ப வைக்கல, ஸ்டெப்னி மாத்த ஒரு மணி நேரம் ஆகும்”னு சொன்னான். இவருக்கு கோபம் உச்சிக்கு போச்சு. அந்த நேரம் பார்த்து இவரோட நண்பன் பைக்ல வந்தான். இவற பார்த்து “என்ன சார் நடுரோட்டுல நிக்கிறீங்க”னு கேட்டான். இவரு ஏர்போர்ட் போகனும்பா வண்டி பஞ்சர்னு சொன்னாரு. “வாங்க சார்  நான் கொண்டுபோய் விடுறேன்” சொல்லி அவர ஏத்திகிட்டு ஏர்போர்ட் போனான். நம்மாளு மனசுக்குள்ள “அப்பா, கடவுள் மாதிரி நண்பன் வந்து நம்மள காப்பாத்திட்டான், நம்ம டிரைவர் எமன் மாதிரி வந்து நடுரோட்டுல நிக்கவச்சு வியாபாரத்தை கெடுக்க பார்த்தான்.”  

ஏர்போர்ட் போய் சேர்ந்தாச்சு, நண்பருக்கு நன்றி சொல்லிட்டு உள்ள போய் பார்த்தா என்ஜின் கோளாறு காரணமாக விமானம் ஒரு மணி நேரம் லேட். எப்படியோ விமானத்துல ஏறியாச்சு. பாதிதூரம் போனதும் ஒரு அறிவிப்பு “என்ஜின் கோளாறு காரணமாக விமானம் தரையிங்குவதில் பிரச்சனை”. நம்மாளு இப்ப “சே கடவுள் மாதிரி டிரைவர் நம்மள நடுரோட்டுல தான் நிப்பட்டுன்னான். ஆனா இவன் எமன் மாதிரி ஏர்போர்ட்ல இறக்கி விட்டு விமானத்துல ஏத்திவிட்டு சாவுக்கு வழிபன்னிட்டானே”

	எல்லா மதத்தை சேர்ந்தவர்களும் எதோ ஒரு புத்தகத்தை வைத்துக்கொண்டு தான் மதத்தை பரப்புகின்றனர்	எல்லா அறிவியலாளர்களும் ஒரு தியரியை வைத்துக்கொண்டு ஆராய்ச்சியில் ஈடுபடுகின்றனர்
	ஒவ்வொரு அற்புதங்கள் நிகழும்போது அது என்ன என்று நிருபிக்க யாரும் முற்படுவதில்லை	அற்புதங்கள் நிகழும்போது அது என்ன என்று நிருபிக்க நிறைய தியரிகளை கண்டுபிடிக்கிறார்கள்
	எது நடந்தாலும் கடவுளோடு இணைத்து விடுகின்றனர்	எது நடந்தாலும் அதை நிருபிக்க உலகில் உள்ள அறிவியலாளர்கள் முயல்கிறார்கள்.
	இவர்களும் கடவுளை அடைய என்ன வழி என்று புத்தகத்திலிருந்து சொல்கிறார்கள். ஆனால் அது நிருபிக்க படாத ஒன்று. ஏதேனும் தவறு இருப்பின் யாரும் கண்டுகொள்வதில்லை	இவர்களும் மூல காரணம் அடைய என்ன வழி என்று தியரியில் இருந்து சொல்கிறார்கள். அந்த தியரியை நிரூபிக்கிறார்கள். ஏதேனும் தவறு இருப்பின் மீண்டும் பலமுறை சோதித்து பலரின் அனுமதியோடு அதை திருத்தி எழுதுகிறார்கள்
	இதுவரை யாரும் கடவுளை பார்த்ததில்லை.	இதுவரை மூல காரணத்தை கண்டுபிடிக்க முயன்று கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர்
	கடவுளை அடைய செல்லும் வழியில் உள்ள ஓட்டைகளை/இடைவெளியை யாரும் அடைக்க முயல்வதில்லை	ஒவ்வொரு முறையும் எதாவது ஒரு சோதனையின் மூலம் அந்த இடைவெளியை அடைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர்
	இதில் பணம் வரவு	இதில் பணம் செலவு
	மக்களுக்கு பயனில்லை. பயனுள்ளதாக நம்பபடுகிறது	எல்லா அறிவியல் கண்டுபிடிப்பும் மக்கள் பயன்படுத்துகின்றனர்

கடவுள் என்றால் என்ன ?

கடவுள் என்ற சொல்லிற்கு 109 பொருள்களை கழகத் தமிழ் அகராதி தருகிறது. இவற்றுள் குரு, தெய்வம், இறைவன், முனிவன், ஈசன், தேவன், மூவுலகாளி மற்றும் விமலன் என்ற பொருள்கள் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கவை.

கடவுள் எல்லாவற்றையும் கடந்த பொருள். அது ஒரு நிலைத்தன்மை.

கடவுள் உயிருமன்று, உலகபொருள்களில் எதுவுமன்று, உலகப் பொருள் போல் அழிவதன்று, காணப்படுவதன்று.

கடவுதல் என்றால் செலுத்துதல் என்னும் பொருள் உண்டு. எல்லா உலகத்தையும் உயிர்களையும் உள் நின்று செலுத்துவது என்றும் சொல்லலாம். எல்லாவற்றையும் கடந்து நிற்கின்ற பொருளுக்கும் நமக்கும் தொடர்பு என்னவென்றால் அது நம்மை செலுத்துகின்றது, அறிவிக்கின்றது.


அப்படியானால் எல்லா மதத்தவரும் வழிபடும் கடவுள்கள் யார் ?

வால்மீகி - கம்பன்

வால்மீகி ராமாயணத்தில் வரும் முனிவர் ஜாபாலி நாத்திகம் பேசுபவர்.

ஆனால் அந்த கதாபாத்திரம் கம்பராமாயணத்தில் இடம்பெறவில்லை.

கம்பனுடைய பக்திக் கொள்கைக்கு ஜாபாலியின் கொள்கை முரன்படுவதால் கம்பன் அதைப் பற்றி பாடமல் விட்டுவிட்டார்.
